About Me
Shih-Yu (Leo) Ma is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Colorado Boulder Computer Science Department.
I work under the guidance of Professor Tom Yeh (Imagine AI Lab) and Professor Ellen Do (ACME Lab).
My research interests span across:
- Explainable AI
- Extended Reality
- Human-Computer Interaction
- Cognitive Science
- Tangible Experience
I completed my Master's in Information Design at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Department of Information Design in June 2023, where I worked with Professor Neng-Hao Yu.
My thesis focused on reducing cybersickness in virtual reality driving experiences using a head-mounted vibrational feedback device.
From February to August 2023, I served as a visiting researcher at the University of Colorado Boulder's Center for the Brain, AI, and Child.
During this period, I developed an MR driving warning system and led a haptic project to assist individuals with visual impairments through brain activity translation.
My recent work has been published in prestigious venues including ACM MobileHCI, ACM AutoUI, and ACM UbiComp/ISWC, focusing on innovative solutions in mixed reality and haptic feedback systems.
